4G wait until early next year

New Delhi, 24 July: High-speed mobile and Internet services will be rolled out only by early next year with the fourth generation (4G) technology, as operators still in talks with equipment manufacturers.
It is expected that contracts in the third quarter of 2011 (October-December), completion and commissioning of rolling out service in early 2012, "be if the demand of consumers and operators of local ecosystem."
"By the end of this year, the entire ecosystem for the effective introduction of 4G in India on the spot, including mobile phones, data cards and networks," said Yin Weimin, president of GSM, UMT and LTE network with Huawei.
Long-Term Evolution (LTE) or 4G technology allows the downloading of data at higher speeds. Basically, a four-minute song can be downloaded in 4 seconds.
Beginning with subway and high revenue earning circles is expected to spread to other cities 4G and achieve pan-India coverage over a period of two years.
"The business model that emerges is that the device manufacturers and operators to register 2-3 rollout give contracts for various telecom circles," said an operator to start gearing up to 4G. The potential volume of transactions is expected to be between $ 250 million and $ 4 billion contract for a single pallet.
According to industry experts, Mukesh Ambani, Reliance Industries is owned by Infotel, the only pan-India player 4G, is expected to set the trend in rates and service rollout.
"All operators are waiting to see how Infotel forges alliances with manufacturers and uses the new technology," experts said.
Infotel has won licenses in 22 circles. Other licenses to bag Aircel (8), Bharti Airtel and QUALCOMM (4), with headquarters in Delhi Tikona (5) and UK-based Augere (1).
Mukesh Ambani is likely Infotel with the global rollout of 4G roadmap under which countries like the USA, Africa and Latin America will go live between 2011-end and mid-2012 to align, say experts.
Although the migration of millions of mobile users, the 4G network will initially be slow because of the lack of affordable LTE-enabled mobile phones and devices, industry players are optimistic about a quick shot.
"The prices may be decreasing gradually, as more subscribers opt for LTE. We experienced an increase in 2G and 3G mobile handset with a reduction in prices. The same LTE in a shorter period to be expected because of the rapidly evolving ecosystem" said Mark Atkinson, head of global sales of Nokia Siemens Network LTE.
